Candice, Shawn's Girl

Candice Nicole Norton
Died on February 15th 2005 to accidental methamphetamine overdose.
Candice was 18 years old.
She was an All-Star softball player, wanted to be a nurse, loved her disabled brother and protected her sisters.
She struggled with mental health and addictive issues.
My baby girl was arrested and ate two bags of meth.
The Sheriffs at Los Colinas placed her in a sobering cell and ignored her cries for help, until her fever was over 105 degrees and she fell into a coma.
The Grossmont Hospital ER nurses knew my family and called my in-laws.
I was told those who overdose in custody, do not have emergency family calls.
She would have died alone. Candice was a fighter and fought seven days until she flew away.

Shawn, Candace’s Mother

Shawn is the San Diego/La Mesa Chapter Leader of Grief Recovery After a Substances Passing (GRASP).
