Loving someone in danger of dying at any moment is the toughest love of all. It’s hard enough without invoking what addiction “specialists” call tough love.

Not to say “tough love” doesn’t work.

If the one you love wants or needs to take drugs, and also craves your approval, and you can’t give that approval, they and you are at an impasse.

What then? 

Everyone is stuck. Both you and your loved one.
